Stuck on what to do with your Nectar points? You can now blow them on a takeaway burger or a cab home. Nectar has just added Uber as a redemption partner, so you can now convert your points into credit for Uber rides or Uber Eats deliveries straight from the Nectar app.
It's a great new use for your points and one of the more practical answers to the eternal question "where can I spend Nectar points?" That said, if you're sitting on a solid balance, hold fire. We'd still point you towards Avios first. More on that below.
How the Nectar and Uber Partnership Works
It's a simple process. All you need to do is swap points for an Uber voucher through the Nectar app. These points are automatically added to your Uber account for use on rides or food deliveries. Just make sure your email address and mobile number matches across both accounts for the transfer to work.
How to use Nectar points with Uber comes down to four denominations:
| Nectar points | Voucher value |
|---|---|
| 500 points | £2.50 |
| 1,000 points | £5.00 |
| 2,000 points | £10.00 |
| 4,000 points | £20.00 |
- Vouchers are valid for 12 months from the date of issue.
- You can convert between 500 and 4,000 points per transaction.
What's the Nectar Points Value Here?

Converting to Uber gives you 0.5p per Nectar point. That's the standard Nectar points value across most of the programme's redemption partners, so you're not getting a better or worse rate than usual, just a new place to spend.
The fixed cash rate does make this one of the more transparent redemptions in the programme. Unlike converting to Avios or Marriott Bonvoy points, where the value of your points is always a moving target (a question of which flight, which hotel, which night of the week, etc), you know exactly what you're getting with Uber: 0.5p per point, locked in.
Katie Hunter, Head of Grocery and Retail, Uber Eats, said, "Nectar has built a deep connection with British households, and we are so pleased to become their first-ever ride-hailing and delivery partner. By integrating our services, we're providing Nectar's loyal members with even more flexibility in how they spend their rewards, whether that's a reliable ride home or a favourite meal delivered to their door."
A Few Practical Notes
If you've been using an Uber price calculator to work out whether a journey is worth it, your Nectar points can now take some of the edge off the cost. A 4,000-point conversion gives you £20 of Uber credit, which is enough to cover a short-to-medium journey in most UK cities, or a decent Uber Eats order.
There are no Uber Eats codes involved in the process as the voucher is applied directly to your Uber account rather than entered at checkout. It works the same way for rides as it does for food delivery, and there's no minimum order value specified beyond choosing your denomination in the Nectar app.
Our Take

The Uber partnership is a good addition to the Nectar programme. It's immediate, practical, and the value is transparent. For a one-off treat, such as covering a taxi home after a night out, or a takeaway when you can't be bothered to cook, it's a perfectly reasonable use of points you might not otherwise spend.
But if you're collecting Nectar points with the intention of flying, converting to Avios is still the stronger play. The Nectar points value at 0.5p per point is fixed and fine. Avios can deliver considerably more value than that when used well on long-haul flights or cabin upgrades, sometimes three or four times as much per point when you're redeeming on a Business Class flight.
The conversion rate from Nectar to Avios is 400 Nectar points to 250 Avios. It's not a 1:1 transfer, but if you're asking how to use Nectar points for maximum return, the answer for most readers is still: convert to Avios, then use them for flights.
That said, not everyone is saving for a long-haul trip. If your Nectar balance is modest, or you just want to use some points on something tangible and soon, the Uber option delivers exactly that. But all in all, it's still worth knowing something like this exists.
