Qatar Airways flights took off for the first time in 1994 when the airline was just a small, regional carrier operating a handful of routes across the State of Qatar. In 1997 Qatar Airways was launched as an international airline, under the dynamic leadership of Akbar Al Baker.
Today, Qatar Airways serves over 150 destinations worldwide, including Europe, the Middle East, Africa, South Asia, Asia Pacific and both North and South America using a fleet of over 200 aircraft. They also offer Qatar Airways reward flights for members of their Privilege Club, with Qatar Avios points as their currency. In fact, Qatar Airways has become one of the most decorated airlines in the travel industry, winning Airline Of The Year at the globally recognised Skytrax World Airline Awards in 2011, 2012, 2015 and 2017. Flights regularly depart from London Heathrow, London Gatwick, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin Airports to Doha, where travellers can connect to over 150 destinations across the globe. Booking seats on Qatar reward flights is an exceptionally popular offer for travellers throughout the globe.
Qatar Airways has a well earned reputation for exceptional standards of service, particularly in its flagship Q-Suite Business Class cabins. For many years they have been heralded as an icon of customer experience, having won Best Business Class In The World in 2013, 2014, 2016 and 2017 respectively. Their image as a truly customer centric airline and reputation for exacting standards has garnered thousands of loyal Qatar Airways fans over the last 15 years.
As one of the airline industry’s most recognisable figures, Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive, Akbar Al Baker is known for his ambition and passion for innovation. Mr. Al Baker introduced the award winning, wildly popular Qsuite in March 2017. The Qsuite featured air travel's first-ever double bed for Business Class customers. The unique design allows passengers in adjoining seats to remove their privacy screens and create their own private double suites, creating a spacious, secluded and extra comfortable Business Class flight experience. They recently made the decision to allow passengers to collect Qatar Airways Avios points - a much lauded move.
Qatar Airways’ loyalty programme is called The Privilege Club, where members collect Avios to be able to book Qatar reward flights. Qatar Airways reward points, called QPoints, are used to increase membership Tier status. It’s free to join, and members receive a variety of benefits both on board flights and day to day.
Qatar Airways rewards members with Avios points when they fly with the airline, Oneworld airlines or partner airlines. These Avios points can be used to book reward seats on airlines that accept them. Members also earn Qpoints, to move up the various Membership Tiers of the Privilege Club. The higher your membership tier, the more benefits you receive.
Tier Points determine your status within Qatar Airways Privilege Club, there are four tiers: Burgundy, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Each level up offers bigger benefits such as priority check-in and boarding, extra baggage allowance, lounge access and meet-and-assist. You can only earn Tier Points by taking Qatar Airways flights. If you earn enough QPoints within a membership year, you’re promoted to a higher level within the club.
Burgundy members can earn 100% mileage Qatar Avios points on all family members travelling on flights, and save up to 10% on seat selection. They can also get deals with a wide range of airline partners. Silver members get a 25% mileage bonus on Qatar Airways flights that earn Avios, as well as up to 2 Guest lounge passes per year. Gold members get a massive 75% mileage bonus, as well as QCredits, which can be used to upgrade. Platinum status obviously offers the best selection of benefits, with a whopping 100% mileage bonus, extra QCredits for upgrading, lounge access, meet-and-greet and an extra 25kg of luggage allowance.
If you collect Avios to use on British Airways flights you’ll be pleased to hear you can now use Qatar Airways Avios points too, giving you even more travel options. As with all other aspects of their service, Qatar Airways reward flights are much sought after and seats get booked up quickly.
