In February 2021, Virgin launched a new loyalty program building on the brand’s existing Flying Club: the Virgin Red.

Virgin Red is an integrated loyalty programme that allows you to earn and redeem points across practically all Virgin-branded enterprises, bringing you one step closer to availing of Virgin reward flights. Virgin describes Virgin Red as “The new rewards club from Virgin designed to give you access to more of the things you need, want and love from the Virgin family and beyond.”

Under the new program, all Virgin companies, including Virgin Atlantic, Virgin Hotels, Virgin Active, Virgin Voyages, Virgin Wines, Virgin Money and Virgin Media, share one single loyalty currency called ‘Virgin Points’. You can also earn rewards from outside the Virgin universe, thanks to partnerships with companies including Tesco, Heathrow Airport, Enterprise, Hertz, Rocketmiles, and more.

But what if am not a member of the Virgin Flying Club?

Doesn’t matter. Virgin Red is for everyone. So even if you’ve never stepped on a Virgin plane, you can still rack up points and redeem them on products/services from the Virgin family and beyond.

Virgin Red is also an excellent option for travellers who want to redeem rewards for one-of-a-kind travel experiences. From skydiving and camping breaks for outdoor enthusiasts to live tickets for the Virgin Red Room at the AO Arena for all you music lovers, there are lots of options to redeem. Simply sign up on the Virgin Red app or website to start earning and spending Virgin Points. The Virgin Red app is also completely free to join.

Ways to Earn Virgin Points

Luckily, you don't need to be a big flyer to be a miles mogul. With Virgin Red, there are over 150 ways to rack up Virgin Points other than a Virgin Atlantic booking. From online shopping, and hotel stays, to entering weekly competitions and even playing games.

Shop Till You Are Rewarded

Is online shopping your go-to guilty pleasure? If that’s a yes, you can slide through your purchases, big or small — and earn points while you're at it. From Nike, Samsung and Adidas to Boots and eBay, Virgin Red has tied up with many of the UK’s big retailers, giving you a chance to spend and save at the same time. Shop with your favourite UK brands through Virgin Red and start building that point balance right away.

Grocery Shopping

You can also exchange Tesco Clubcard points or American Express Rewards for Virgin Points, via the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club, which means, along with the aforementioned partnerships, the earning potential for those looking to build up enough points for a reward flight is huge.

Travel with Partner Airlines

Do you have to fly Virgin to earn Virgin Points? No, not at all. Virgin Atlantic is part of the SkyTeam Airline Alliance, so you can redeem points for flying on any SkyTeam airline. From Air France and DELTA to Air Europa and KLM, you can skim through the complete list of SkyTeam Airlines here.

Beyond SkyTeam, Virgin has also partnered up with other airlines including Singapore Airlines, South African Airways and IndiGo, lending you more ways to maximise your point earnings. You also earn additional Points for staying at Virgin Hotels or booking through booking.com.

Sync to Other Reward Programs

Virgin Red lets you pool in your points from other reward programs like Chase Ultimate Rewards, American Express Membership Rewards, Citi Thank You Rewards and Bilt Rewards. Credit these points to your Virgin Red account at a 1:1 ratio, and splurge them on a broader range of Virgin rewards.

Enter a Virgin Lucky Contest

Feel like you’re on a winning streak? Virgin Red offers exciting lucky draws and weekly competitions to help you become Virgin Point millionaires overnight! In 2022, a whopping one million Virgin Points were awarded to three lucky winners just in time for Christmas. Not a member yet? Don't worry. You can sign up here to be at the receiving end of point giveaways in the future.

Playing Games

Too lazy to shop or travel? With Virgin Games, you can even earn points while playing games inside the comfort of your home. Try your luck at Bingo and live games to win V*Points, as well as a chance to win cash prizes, free spins, and much more. Your V*Points can easily be converted into Virgin Points to redeem for exciting Virgin Red rewards.

Does Virgin Red Replace Virgin Atlantic Flying Club?

No, Virgin Red does not replace the Virgin Atlantic Flying Club. Your points, tier status and benefits when flying with Virgin Atlantic will continue to be earned via the Flying Club program. You will still be able to redeem Virgin reward flights with Virgin Atlantic as a Flying Club member. However, your Virgin Atlantic Flying Club Miles are now Virgin Points.
