Tesco Ireland shoppers can now turn their weekly grocery shopping into their next holiday thanks to a new partnership with Aer Lingus that lets Clubcard holders convert their Tesco Clubcard points into Avios for flights.
Almost one million Tesco Clubcard members will get vouchers that can be exchanged for Avios, the rewards currency of the Aer Lingus AerClub
loyalty programme as well as British Airways and several other airlines in the oneworld Alliance. Every €2.50 in Clubcard vouchers converts to 600 Avios, enough to bring customers a step closer to their next adventure when you factor in a typical monthly grocery bill.
"In real terms, this means a stroll down the aisles of Tesco brings you one step closer to the sun-soaked isles of Spain. It's a simple, rewarding way to make everyday shopping go the extra mile," said Susanne Carberry, Aer Lingus Chief Customer Officer.
A Great Way to Reward Everyday Shopping

Thanks to this Tesco Clubcard news, you can use your grocery shopping to fuel Aer Lingus holidays, upgrades, hotel stays, car hire, and more. Aer Lingus reward flights start from around 4,000 Avios (taxes and fees are additional), which means just €17.50 worth of Clubcard vouchers could get you a one-way flight to cities like London, Paris, or Amsterdam.
For longer trips, 13,000 Avios, or roughly €55 in vouchers, can unlock flights to New York. It's a great opportunity to strategise on how to use Avios points. For example, members can pool them with other Avios-earning partners, such as Uber, Revolut, and Bank of Ireland, to reach their travel goals faster.
“In our next Clubcard statement, we'll be giving back over €7.5m in vouchers to our loyal customers – converted into Avios, that's enough for over 400,000 people to fly one way to Paris," said Tesco Ireland's Customer Director, Suzanne Quinn.
How It Works
You can redeem your Clubcard vouchers for Avios online or through the Tesco app. To convert them, you must first join AerClub. Your 16-digit membership number is available in the AerClub app, on the website, or in any emails you’ve received from the programme. Once you redeem a voucher, Tesco will share your membership details with IAG Loyalty, the parent company of the Avios rewards programme, and the points will appear in your account within seconds.
Vouchers are valid for two years, giving shoppers plenty of time to decide how to spend their Tesco Clubcard points, whether that's upgrading to Aer Lingus Business Class, booking an Aer Lingus holiday, or exploring Europe's most popular cities.
A Boost for Loyalty
With the holiday season approaching, the partnership gives Irish households and frequent flyers an easy way to make their travel spend go further. It also marks another milestone in Aer Lingus' growing network of Avios partners, adding more value to Tesco Clubcards by linking one of Ireland's biggest loyalty schemes with one of its most recognisable airlines.
As Aer Lingus approaches the 10th anniversary of its AerClub programme, this partnership adds more weight to its mission to make travel more accessible through everyday rewards. Customers can explore how to use Avios points for upgrades or redeem Avios for flights on their next getaway, and this initiative makes the process as simple as scanning a Clubcard. Because now, your weekly shop isn't just filling the fridge; it might just fill your passport with stamps.
