The benefits of Avios to AerClub Members

Aer Lingus (18)

Earn Avios Points (30)

News

For many frequent flyers in the UK and Ireland,  Aer Lingus AerClub is an easy way to turn everyday spending into real travel. The airline uses Avios (the biggest loyalty ecosystem across the globe) as its reward currency, so  Aerclub Avios can be earned on flights, shopping, and credit cards, then spent on discounts, upgrades, and  Aer Lingus reward flights.

AerClub also offers a useful advantage that other loyalty programmes do not always match. You can move Avios between partner schemes and unlock a wider network of reward seats across airlines throughout the world.

Joining AerClub

Aer-Lingus-Airbus-Plane.jpg

Before you can collect or use Aer Lingus Avios, you need to  create a free AerClub account. When you join AerClub, an Avios account is created automatically, and you’ll get an AerClub membership number that you should add to your flight bookings to make sure your Avios credit is correct.

How to sign up

  1. Go to Aer Lingus’ AerClub registration page and choose  Join AerClub.
  2. Complete the registration form (your personal details + login).
  3. After registering, log in to view your membership number and account details (you’ll use this across flights and partners).

Earning AerClub Avios

Uber (UK & Ireland)

You can earn AerClub Avios with Uber once you link your Uber and AerClub accounts.

Earn rates

  • UK: 1 Avios per £1 on eligible Uber trips plus trains, coaches, boats and 2-wheels
  • Republic of Ireland: 1 Avios per €1 on eligible Uber trips

Avios are based on the qualifying ride price, excluding tips and misc. fees (e.g., cleaning charges).

How to link

In Uber Rewards, select AerClub as your rewards programme, then tap Link account.

  1. Join AerClub (free) if you’re not already a member.
  2. Open Uber → Account → Settings → Rewards → AerClub → Link account.
  3. Follow the on-screen prompts — you’ll see a success message when it’s linked.

Linking rules

  • 1 Uber account ↔ 1 AerClub account (must be the same person)
  • You can unlink anytime, but you’ll stop earning Avios after unlinking.

Tip: Add your AerClub membership number to every flight booking to ensure your Avios credit correctly

Aer Lingus flights

How to collect Avios on flights (3-step checklist)

  1. Log in / join AerClub on aerlingus.com
  2. Book your flight and add your AerClub membership number to the reservation
  3. Fly — your Avios are typically credited after the flight has flown

Avios are awarded based on what you paid for the Aer Lingus flight, excluding government taxes and excluding ancillaries like bags or seats.

Headline earning rates on Aer Lingus flights

  • €1 = 3 Avios
  • £1 = 4 Avios
  • $1 = 3 Avios
  • C$1 = 2 Avios
  • Other currencies are rewarded based on the Euro value (using €1 = 3 Avios)

Rounding note (useful for checking your totals): the eligible portion is rounded to the nearest € / £ / $ / C$ before Avios are calculated.

Status boost: If you’re Silver, Platinum or Concierge, you’ll earn extra Avios on Aer Lingus flights on top of the base earning (so your balance grows faster).

Partner airline flights

Aer-Lingus-Tails.jpg

AerClub lets you earn Avios not only on Aer Lingus, but also on key partner airlines including:

  • American Airlines
  • British Airways
  • United

Important: the earning method can change depending on the partner airline:

  • American Airlines: Avios are awarded based on spend
  • British Airways & United: Avios are awarded based on the distance flown and your fare class (with a % multiplier that varies by booking class)

Worked examples

Example 1: Aer Lingus (spend-based)

  • Route: Dublin to NYC
  • Eligible spend (example): €500 (excluding government taxes + extras like bags/seats)
  • Avios earned: €500 × 3 = 1,500 Avios

Example 2: British Airways (distance + fare class %)

  • Route: Dublin to Cape Town (operated by British Airways)
  • Distance (example estimate): 6,209 miles
  • Cabin/fare class: Business (250%)
  • Avios earned: 6,209 × 250% = 15,522 Avios

Example 3: Mixed itinerary (Aer Lingus + BA)

  • Route: NYC to London, connecting via Dublin
    • Segment 1:NYC → Dublin (Aer Lingus-operated; spend-based)
      • Example eligible spend: €500 → €500 × 3 = 1,500 Avios
    • Segment 2: Dublin → London (British Airways-operated; distance + fare class)
      • Distance: 280 miles, discount economy (50%) → 280 × 50% = 140 Avios
  • Total Avios earned: 1,500 + 140 = 1,640 Avios

Because BA uses booking-class multipliers, your Avios can vary a lot. As a rule of thumb:

  • First: up to 300%
  • Business: commonly 150%–250%
  • Premium Economy: often 100%–150%
  • Economy: typically 25%–100% depending on discount/full fare

(Exact booking-class mapping varies, so it’s worth checking  Aer Lingus official earning rates.)

Travellers who book regularly, even on short routes such as London - Dublin, can build Avios steadily over time. Balances grow fastest when flight earning is combined with the shopping eStore and Aer-branded or partner credit cards discussed below.

Earn through shopping

One important thing to note: although it’s branded as the AerClub eStore, the service now sits within the wider Avios.com platform. As a result, clicking through from Aer Lingus eStore links may redirect you to Avios.com. This is intentional and does not affect your ability to earn Avios with AerClub — it’s simply part of Avios consolidating shopping rewards across its airline partners.

How the AerClub eStore works

  • Log in using your AerClub details and browse a wide range of retail partners, spanning fashion, electronics, travel, and lifestyle brands such as ASOS, Deliveroo, Brown Thomas, and Booking.com.
  • Click through to the retailer from the eStore (or via Avios.com) before you shop, so your purchase is tracked and linked to your AerClub account.
  • Shop as normal. Once the purchase is confirmed, the Avios you earn are credited to your account, usually after a short delay depending on the retailer.

What you can earn

  • Each retailer offers its own earning rate, typically shown as Avios per euro or pound spent.
  • During promotional periods, rates can jump into double-digit Avios per unit of currency, which is where the eStore becomes especially powerful.

Key info

  • There is no extra cost compared to shopping directly with the retailer — you’re simply adding Avios on top.
  • The eStore is particularly valuable if you only fly a few times per year but still want enough Avios for meaningful redemptions, as shopping can quietly generate a significant portion of your balance in the background.

Earn via AerClub credit cards

AerClub has two main credit card routes, depending on where you live, which let you turn everyday spending into a steady stream of Avios without relying on flight frequency.

Ireland – Aer Credit Card (Bank of Ireland)

For AerClub members in Ireland, the  Aer Credit Card lets you earn Avios from everyday spending but you must link the card to your AerClub account for Avios to post and for travel benefits to unlock.

Earn rates (as of Jan 2026):

  • 1 Avios per €1 spent with Aer Lingus
  • 1 Avios per €4 on other eligible spend (excluded transactions apply; only the primary cardholder can link)

Limited-time bonus (date-sensitive): 6,500 bonus Avios if you open a new account 12 Jan–20 Feb 2026 and spend €1,000 by 8 May 2026 (you must have a linked AerClub account; T&Cs apply).

Travel perks (headline):

  • 2 return flights to Europe after €5,000 eligible spend (taxes/fees/charges still payable; availability/restrictions apply)
  • Plus 2 Fast Track & Priority Boarding passes, 2 lounge passes, and worldwide multi-trip travel insurance.

How to apply:

  • New Bank of Ireland customer: complete the online application and provide any required account-opening documents during the form.
  • Existing Bank of Ireland current account customer: complete the online application and the bank will follow up.

Link the card to AerClub:

  • Linking is required to log into the Aer Credit Card portal and view/redeem travel benefits.
  • You’ll receive an automated email a few days after your physical card arrives with step-by-step linking instructions — you can’t link before that email is sent.
  • If you already have AerClub, link using your AerClub login.
  • If you don’t have AerClub yet, join AerClub first, then use the linking email to connect your new AerClub account to the card.
  • Keep note of your AerClub username and password — you’ll need them to complete linking.

Fees / eligibility (high level): €6.50/month account fee + €30/year government stamp duty; applicants must be 18+ and resident in the Republic of Ireland for 6+ months.

US – Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Credit Card (Chase)

For US-based travellers, the  Aer Lingus Visa Signature® Credit Card (issued by Chase) is the main Aer Lingus–branded way to earn Avios quickly through a welcome offer plus strong travel-category earning.

Welcome offer (check current terms):

  • Earn 75,000 Avios after you spend $5,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening. (Offers can change, so treat this as “current at time of writing”.)

Earn rates (core mechanics):

  • 3 Avios per $1 on Aer Lingus, British Airways and Iberia flight purchases
  • 2 Avios per $1 on hotel stays booked directly with the hotel
  • 1 Avios per $1 on all other purchases

(As always, card terms apply and some transaction types may be excluded under issuer rules.)

Key travel perks (headline):

  • Economy Companion Ticket each calendar year when you spend $30,000 in purchases (ticket is typically valid for 12 months; route/availability and other conditions apply).
  • Priority Boarding on eligible Aer Lingus flights for you and authorized users (subject to availability).
  • No foreign transaction fees.

Costs:

  • $95 annual fee
  • 19.24%–27.74% variable APR (range varies by creditworthiness and issuer pricing)

Extra protections & everyday benefits:

  • Travel/purchase protections like baggage delay reimbursement, lost luggage reimbursement, purchase protection, and extended warranty protection (with limits, time windows, and documentation requirements).
  • DashPass (DoorDash/Caviar) benefit is often included on eligible Chase cards, with activation deadlines and exact duration depending on the offer terms at the time.

Practical tip: If you collect Avios across multiple programmes (Aer Lingus / BA / Iberia), this card’s 3x category can pair well with whichever programme you plan to redeem from later because Avios can often be moved between Avios schemes when your accounts are set up correctly.

Put regular spending on these cards and your AerClub balance grows predictably in the background, which is particularly useful if you only fly a few times a year but still want enough Avios for meaningful redemptions.

Finding BA reward seats (and benefiting as an Aer Lingus collector)

Aer Lingus has a strong network focused on Ireland, the UK, Europe and North America. British Airways overlays a much larger global footprint, which opens many more destinations once your Avios sit in BA’s programme.

Reward Flight Finder (RFF) is helpful here even if you think of yourself as an Aer Lingus flyer, because once you transfer Avios to BA you can:

  • use Availability Alerts to be notified when BA (or BA-operated partner) reward seats open on your preferred route and dates
  • use Flight-by-Flight tracking to monitor specific services for new seat releases
  • use the Worldwide Map to see where Avios seats exist and shape your plans around actual availability rather than guesswork

The practical pattern is:

  • earn through AerClub (flights, shopping, cards)
  • transfer Avios into BA when you want to tap BA’s wider network
  • use RFF to spot and secure those BA reward seats quickly

Even if your starting point is searching Aer Lingus reward flights, this combination gives you much more flexibility on where and how you ultimately redeem.

How to book Aer Lingus flights with Avios

Aer Lingus lets AerClub members use Avios in two main ways on its own flights: classic reward seats paid mostly in Avios, and cash tickets where Avios reduce the fare rather than replace it.

Reward flights and seat booking

To book a classic reward flight, log in with your AerClub details and search for flights via the Avios booking platform or Aer Lingus’ own reward booking path. This is the standard route if you want to pay primarily in Avios for an Aer Lingus ticket.

If you are chasing best-value redemptions, it helps to understand that pricing is distance- and route-based rather than purely flat; many travellers track “sweet spots” where the Avios price compares very favourably to cash.

Off-peak economy between Boston and Dublin is a frequently cited example in distance-based pricing discussions.

Example Aer Lingus reward flight prices (Avios)

Aer Lingus reward flights are priced as one-way Avios amounts by distance “zone”, with off-peak and peak rates. Taxes, fees and charges still apply on top of the Avios price.

Distance zone (one-way)Economy (Off-peak)Economy (Peak)Business (Off-peak)Business (Peak)Example routes

Notes:

  • Prices shown are per person, one-way and vary by peak vs off-peak date.
  • Reward flights are Avios + cash (taxes/fees/charges), and the cash element varies by route, cabin and departure airport.
  • Example routes are included only to make the distance bands more intuitive — always confirm exact pricing and availability during booking.
  • Aer Lingus doesn’t offer a “Business Class” cabin on those short-haul zones (Zones 1–4 in the Aer Lingus chart), there’s no Business reward price to list

Using Avios to reduce the cash price

If you prefer to keep earning on a revenue ticket, Aer Lingus also offers a Pay with Avios option on selected fares. This lets you use Avios to reduce the cash total (including taxes/charges and, where applicable, add-ons), and Aer Lingus notes you’ll still collect Avios and Tier Credits on these flights.

The exact discount rate is shown at checkout and can vary based on your Avios balance and the total basket price.

Example:

Say your Aer Lingus booking total is £220. At payment, Aer Lingus might offer you options such as 10,000 Avios for £50 off (the real options will be shown during booking). If you choose that:

  • You pay £170 + 10,000 Avios
  • You’ve effectively got £50 of value from 10,000 Avios (≈ 0.5p per Avios)
A quick way to sanity-check value is: cash discount ÷ Avios used.

This can be especially useful when:

  • reward seats are limited or not available on your dates
  • you’re locked into specific flights but still want to get some value from your Avios

Avios costs, taxes, and fees

Reward flights are never completely free: you always pay Avios plus cash taxes, fees and carrier charges. These cash elements vary by route, cabin and departure airport, so it is worth checking them carefully before you commit Avios.

For long-haul routes, especially to the US, planning for “Aer Lingus Avios taxes and fees” as part of your total trip budget is essential. This is also why travellers compare economy versus business redemptions: the Avios required and the cash surcharges can differ significantly between cabins on the same route.

AerClub tiers and extra benefits

AerClub uses multiple status tiers, each with additional benefits such as priority check-in, priority boarding, extra luggage and, at higher levels, lounge access on eligible flights.

AerClub has four status tiers: Green, Silver, Platinum and Concierge. Status is earned through Tier Credits (separate from Avios), and the Tier Qualification Period runs 1 April to 31 March each year. ()

AerClub tierTier CreditsBenefits
Green0–300• Earn and spend Avios

Can you use AerClub Avios on other airlines?

You’re not limited to Aer Lingus when you earn and redeem AerClub Avios — that flexibility is one of the programme’s biggest strengths.

Earn and redeem with AerClub partner airlines

AerClub members can collect (and in many cases spend) Avios with a set of partner airlines, including:

  • British Airways
  • American Airlines
  • United Airlines
  • Iberia
  • Finnair

(Partner rules vary by airline — for example, some partners award Avios by distance + fare class, while others use spend-based earning.)

Move Avios between programmes to unlock more options

Avios are shared across multiple loyalty programmes, so you can often move Avios between accounts and then redeem wherever pricing, routes, cabins or availability are best. Common programmes you can transfer between include:

  • AerClub (Aer Lingus)
  • The British Airways Club
  • Iberia Club
  • Qatar Airways Privilege Club
  • Finnair Plus
  • Vueling Club
  • Loganair Loyalty

The practical strategy

A powerful approach is:

  1. Earn primarily via AerClub (flights, shopping, cards)
  2. When you’re ready to book, compare redemption options
  3. Redeem with Aer Lingus when it’s best value or transfer Avios into another programme (like BA, Iberia or Qatar) if it gives you a better routing, cabin, taxes/fees outcome, or reward-seat availability.

Transferring AerClub Avios to British Airways

For many travellers in the UK and Ireland, the ability to move Avios between AerClub and British Airways’ programme is one of the biggest practical advantages of collecting AerClub Avios. British Airways provides an online “Transfer your Avios” tool that lets you move Avios between accounts on a 1:1 basis, typically without a fee: Transfer your Avios.

This makes it easy to:

  • compare pricing and reward seat availability between Aer Lingus and BA (and other Avios programmes) so you can see where your points go furthest.
  • shift Avios to whichever programme offers the best combination of route, cabin, taxes and fees for the specific trip you want to book.

A final word on destinations

AerClub delivers the best results when you match the redemption to your trip type:

  • for short European breaks, using Avios on Aer Lingus Europe flights can be very effective when cash prices spike during school holidays or peak weekends
  • for longer journeys, Aer Lingus-operated US routes (and onward options via BA after a transfer) are often the headline redemptions people target, particularly when off-peak pricing brings Avios costs down
  • If you prefer packages, Aer Lingus holidays can simplify planning by bundling flights and hotels, while you still treat Avios as your underlying loyalty currency through flights, shopping and cards.

Bottom line: AerClub shines because Avios are flexible, relatively easy to earn beyond flying, and usable across multiple airline programmes. Use Aer Lingus redemptions when availability and pricing align; transfer Avios when another programme or BA’s network offers better routes or cabins; and lean on tools like RFF to surface reward seats before someone else grabs them.
