When it comes to opulence in the skies, Qatar Airways has long been in a league of its own. From their acclaimed Qsuites to the enormous Al Mourjan business class lounge at their Doha hub, they've consistently set new benchmarks for high-end air travel. Now, they're once again taking things up a notch.
Welcome to The Garden - the newly opened Al Mourjan Business Lounge. This is the airline's latest marvel, just unveiled and ready to redefine your pre-flight experience. Nestled snugly within the Doha airport, this spanking new lounge is open to anyone with a Qatar Airways Business Class ticket, whether it’s a Qatar award flight booked through Qatar reward points or a regular one.
We’re about to take you on a grand tour of this spectacle. A word of warning, though: after you learn about all the delights it offers, waiting in a regular airport terminal might never feel the same again. Don't forget to stow your preconceived notions of luxury in the overhead bins, because The Garden is about to blow them away.
Location and Size
Sprouting like an oasis amidst the activity of Doha's airport, the Al Mourjan Business Lounge - The Garden has found its home in the airport's northern expansion, just a hop, skip, and a jump away from the C concourse. This strategic location not only offers easy access for business class travellers but also guarantees one heck of a view. But more on that later.
In a world where size does matter, The Garden Lounge pulls no punches. Spread out over a whopping 79,500 square feet, it's so big you could probably fit an actual garden inside it. Despite being surrounded by all the trappings of luxury, it’s as practical as it is plush, with the capacity to accommodate up to 707 passengers comfortably. So whether you're travelling solo or with company, there's plenty of room for everyone.
Architecture and Design
With its sophisticated layout and striking design elements, The Garden Lounge bears a resemblance to a world-renowned architectural marvel - the Jewel complex of Singapore's Changi Airport. But let's be clear - while it may draw inspiration from the Jewel, The Garden Lounge flaunts its own unique character.
The centrepiece of this lounge's design story is undoubtedly The Orchard. Picture an indoor garden, a sprawling sanctuary of greenery and water features right at the heart of a bustling airport. The Orchard features over 300 trees and a whopping 25,000 plants, transforming an ordinary lounge visit into a natural escapade. Stand tall near one of the 50-foot-high trees and you'll almost forget you're about to board a flight.
It's not just the natural elements that make The Garden's design stand out. It also boasts luxurious finishes, spacious interiors and thoughtfully chosen furniture, embodying a blend of elegance, comfort, and functionality. All these elements harmonise to create an upscale and inviting atmosphere, a testament to Qatar Airways' commitment to redefining the business class lounge experience.
Amenities
The Garden doesn't just offer amenities, it offers experiences. It's a space that understands the modern traveller's desire for convenience, luxury, and wellness, creating an atmosphere that truly feels like a home away from home. As you step into the lounge, you might be tempted to forget that you're at an airport at all.
Need a breather before your flight? Make your way to one of the 24 relaxation suites. These havens come with single or double occupancy options, making them perfect for solo travellers or pairs journeying together. Each suite invites you to unwind for up to six hours free of charge. You'll also find well-appointed shower suites and washrooms, ensuring you can freshen up and step onto your flight feeling your absolute best.
But the pampering doesn't stop there. In an almost unheard-of airport amenity, The Garden houses a fully-equipped gym, complete with locker rooms to store your belongings. Whether you prefer running on a treadmill or working out on an elliptical machine, you can keep up with your fitness regimen even while on the go.
Afterwards, why not indulge in a spa visit? With dedicated manicure and pedicure stations, neck and shoulder massage chairs, and seven other treatment rooms, The Garden's spa is the ultimate pitstop for pre-flight rejuvenation.
When it comes to dining, The Garden truly shines. Nearly half a dozen dining areas cater to all tastes. Feast on a buffet laden with fresh sushi stations and made-to-order poke bowls, or grab a quick bite at one of the cocktail bars. Craving a caffeine fix? Stop by one of the barista bars for a freshly brewed coffee. No matter your gastronomic preferences, The Garden has it all.
Access
Stepping into The Garden isn't an experience that comes with every ticket. Access is an exclusive privilege, carefully calibrated to ensure that the space remains exclusive. However, with the right ticket, or the correct number of Qatar Airways Avios points, you too can bask in the beauty of this remarkable lounge.
Firstly, ticketed Business and First-Class passengers are ushered into this paradise with open arms. That is, except for those flying on the newly introduced 'Business Light' fares. These tickets, while offering a taste of luxury at a lesser price, unfortunately, don't extend to the lounge's experiences. Similarly, Economy passengers who’ve upgraded their tickets with Avios also won't have access to The Garden. However, if you've redeemed your Qatar rewards points for a Business Class Qatar award flight, you're all set to sip cocktails amidst the flora.
It's worth noting that Oneworld status members in Economy won't get access to this spectacular lounge either. But the new Oneworld lounges are there to make sure you're not left without a haven of your own.
While the rules of access may seem a little complex, they're designed to ensure that The Garden maintains its soothing, exclusive atmosphere. It's an environment where the hubbub of the airport melts away, replaced by the gentle rustling of leaves and the soft, mellow lights. So, remember to double-check your fare type and Qatar Airways Avios redemption rules before setting your heart on lounging amid The Garden's greenery.
