Grab your calendars, get your Avios calculator out, and make travel plans to avail these exciting new routes. Here’s the full list of destinations from each airport:
Heathrow Routes
Abu Dhabi, UAE
Abu Dhabi is a city of contrasts. Think skyscrapers that touch the clouds, malls that could fit a small town and beaches that make you forget you're in the middle of a desert. Travellers can enjoy world-class museums, thrilling amusement parks, and serene mangrove kayaking adventures.
Coming after a gap of four years, British Airways will be launching daily flights from London Heathrow to the UAE’s capital from April. Customers can check British Airways reward flight availability for return flights from now. These are expected to continue on a year-round basis.
Izmir, Turkey
Straddling Europe and Asia, Turkey has always held an element of mystery. Home to ancient ruins and stunning landscapes from beaches to mountains, Turkey offers relatively low prices compared to other European countries. But there’s so much more to explore in this cradle of empires than the well-known centres of attraction like Istanbul and Ankara.
Starting on 18 May 2024, British Airways will be launching weekly flights to the city of Izmir, a sandy beach haven on Turkey’s Aegean coast, which is also famous for its rich archaeological and historic heritage. The new route will take off every Saturday from Terminal 5 at London Heathrow, and will be the fifth Turkish destination on the British Airways network, joining Istanbul, Antalya, Bodrum, and Dalaman.
Gatwick Routes
Agadir, Morocco
Long known as the quintessential travel destination for desert treks, remote waterfalls, and mint tea, Morocco has always been a traveller favourite. After more than a decade and owing to its growing demand, British Airways reward flight availability now extends to the coastal city of Agadir. The city that houses the cultural landmark Adadir Kasbah, also enjoys 300 days of sunshine, with beautiful golf courses and family-friendly watersports.
Agadir joins Marrakech on British Airways with return flights available four times a week from 31 March 2024. The flights will be operated by British Airways’ Gatwick short-haul subsidiary, BA Euroflyer.
Stansted Routes
With the effects of the pandemic finally behind us, travel has returned in full numbers, and with it, the demand for flights has also sprung up.
To facilitate this welcome change, British Airways will be returning to London Stansted Airport, with scheduled weekend flights to Florence, Ibiza, and Nice.
This increases the number of London airports featuring British Airways to four, with London Stansted flights being operated by British Airways’ subsidiary BA Cityflyer on its Embraer 190 aircraft.
Florence, Italy
Florence is not only the capital of Italy’s Tuscany region, it’s also where the Renaissance began. With such iconic sights as the terracotta-tiled dome of the Duomo and marvels including Michelangelo’s David, it’s sure to be on every traveller’s wishlist.
Starting 18 May 2024, you can book a flight to Florence on Sundays. These weekend flights are in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow and London City Airport.
Ibiza, Spain
There’s so much more to Ibiza than all-night parties and fun and frolic. The island town also has plenty to offer for families looking for wholesome fun and relaxation. You can explore the charming old town of Ibiza, take a boat trip to the mystical rock of Es Vedrà, or enjoy the natural beauty of the island on a family-friendly hike.
Starting 18 May 2024, weekend flights to Ibiza will depart on Sundays from London Stansted. These will be in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.
Nice, France
Perched on the pebbly shore of the Baie des Anges and capital of the Alpes-Maritimes department on the French Riviera, Nice has long been a favoured retreat for European elite and artists. Over centuries, the city founded by the Greeks has continued to be visited by millions every year, thanks to its plethora of jaw-dropping architecture, mesmerising beaches, and soulful views.
Starting 18 May 2024, British Airways will be flying every Sunday from London Stansted to Nice. These will be in addition to regular flights from London Heathrow, London City, and London Gatwick.
Edinburgh Routes
Beginning summer of 2024, two new routes will be available for travellers from Edinburgh Airport.
For the first time, British Airways will be offering two flights weekly from Edinburgh to San Sebastian in Spain’s Basque Country and weekly flights to Olbia in northeast Sardinia, Italy. These flights will be operated by BA Cityflyer on its Embraer 190 aircraft for the summer season.
San Sebastian, Spain
With its rugged mountains and jagged coastlines, San Sebastian continues to draw travellers looking to relax and unwind. Drawn to its old-town feel and boasting more Michelin stars per square metre than any other European city, San Sebastian (or Donostia as it is known in the Basque language) offers tourists everything from traditional rustic snacks to high-end gourmet dishes.
Launching on 25 May 2024, flights to San Sebastian will operate twice weekly on Tuesdays and Saturdays.
Olbia, Sardinia, Italy
There’s much more to Olbia than its proximity to Costa Smeralda. Situated on the northeastern coast of Sardinia, Olbia offers a charming old-town vibe, delicious food, unique shopping experiences, beautiful beaches, and memorable hikes. Don’t forget to visit its local markets, such as the Mercato di San Benedetto.
From 25 May 2024, visitors can fly to Olbia weekly on Saturdays.
