How to earn Avios with the BPme Rewards programme

Earn Avios Points (30)

Points Pointers

Your fuel purchases can now help you earn your way to your next holiday, thanks to a new partnership between BPme Rewards and Avios. The collaboration turns your everyday spending at BP stations into points while keeping your car running smoothly.

This means that every time you fill up or make a purchase in-store at BP, you can earn BPme Rewards points, which can be converted directly into Avios using the Avios converter in the BPme Rewards app or website. You can then redeem them for flights, upgrades, or hotel stays with British Airways and its airline partners.

Here's everything you need to know about converting BPme to Avios.

How Do BPme Rewards Work?

In a nutshell, the BPme Rewards programme is designed to reward customers with points every time they fill up their tank or shop at participating BP forecourts. To participate, simply sign up in just a few minutes through the BPme app, which also unlocks an instant 500-point registration bonus. These points accumulate in the background every time you buy fuel or grab convenience-store essentials.

The earning structure itself is simple. You'll collect:

  • 1 point per litre of regular fuel
  • 2 points per litre of BP Ultimate
  • 1 point per £1 spent in the forecourt shop

We’ll be honest; the points return isn't huge on its own. A litre of unleaded costs about 135p, which means you're getting roughly a 0.37% return on your spending. Even at a BP forecourt store, where the rate is closer to 0.5%, it’s still not a great return.

However, you can extract good value from it when you convert BPme to Avios. Instead of using your points for small in-store discounts, converting them to Avios gives you higher value as well as access to flights, upgrades, car hire, and hotels, especially when you already have a large balance and can use your fuel purchases to add to it.

How to Convert BPme to Avios

Now for the part that really matters: how many Avios you get when you convert your BPme Rewards points. The conversion rate is straightforward. Every 40 BPme Rewards points gives you 25 Avios, and you can use the built-in Avios converter to make the switch whenever you like. In practice, that means a single fuel stop or a quick shop inside the forecourt can steadily grow your Avios balance, even if you're only buying the essentials.

BPme Rewards also allows monthly auto-conversion to Avios, and you can set it to move your points across in batches of 40 at a time. What you can’t do is transfer Avios back into BPme Rewards; the flow is strictly one-way. There’s also no introductory bonus for your first transfer.

One important detail often missed is that you can’t simply sign up, take the instant 500-point registration bonus, and convert them straight into Avios without ever visiting a BP station. To earn the ability to convert, your BPme Rewards account must first be activated by earning 25 points through actual spend, which means either £25 in the shop or 25 litres of standard fuel. Transfers to Avios work as normal only once that threshold is met.

Is It Worth Converting to Avios?

In most cases, yes. Keeping your points as BPme Rewards gives you a fixed return of £1 for every 200 points. However, when you run those same points through the Avios converter, the maths changes in your favour and you get 125 Avios, which means 0.8p each. You're effectively "buying" Avios at that rate, which is cheaper than almost any other promotion on the market. For travellers who know how to collect Avios points effectively and stack them toward flights, upgrades, or hotel stays, this conversion option adds real long-term value. If you're saving for a reward flight or topping up your balance for a holiday, shifting BPme Rewards into Avios is almost always the smarter move.

How to Collect Avios Points Faster

The best way to earn Avios quickly is to combine multiple earning methods rather than relying on a single source of income. Converting BPme to Avios is a great start, but you can build on it by using an Avios-earning credit card for everyday purchases and keeping an eye out for limited-time promotions.

If you're not already a BPme Rewards member, downloading the BPme app is the easiest way to get started. You'll instantly receive 500 BPme Rewards points just for signing up for an immediate boost before you've even filled your first tank. From there, all your fuel purchases and forecourt spending will top up your balance.
