Neil Chernoff, Chief Planning and Strategy Officer at British Airways expressed enthusiasm about the new service, saying, "This is a milestone year for us at British Airways as we celebrate 100 years of flying to India. I'm delighted to announce the addition of a third daily flight from the vibrant capital city of India, Delhi, offering convenient travel choices from India to London Heathrow and to our extensive worldwide network of more than 200 destinations."
Moran Birger, British Airways’ Head of Sales Asia Pacific and Middle East said, "This significant historical year is a testament to our longstanding relationship with India, built over the last 100 years and reflecting our deep-rooted commitment to the country and its people. With an unwavering focus on customer satisfaction and convenience, we strive to set new standards and elevate the travel experience for all our customers. We eagerly anticipate welcoming passengers on board our new flights and continuing our legacy of excellence in the skies."
Final Thoughts

India is a lucrative destination for flights from London not just because of its strong tourism and business appeal but also because of the large Indian diaspora in the UK. This cultural and economic connection makes the route especially valuable for airlines. Nearly four million passengers flew between the two countries in 2023, with most of the traffic moving through Delhi and London Heathrow airports. Other major routes included Mumbai to London Gatwick and Manchester to Kochi.
As the UK is India’s second-largest long-haul market by passenger number, British Airways plans to tap into the rising demand for travel between the two countries with these new flights. This comes after a new agreement that also sees other airlines like Virgin Atlantic increasing their services. With increased flight frequency, British Airways passengers will also have more options to make the most of British Airways Avios by booking Avios award flights through our Reward Flight Finder (RFF).
