British Airways has confirmed that the British Airways Club offer of per-flight tier point bonuses is here to stay. From 25 November 2025, members will automatically receive extra tier points on eligible flights and British Airways Holidays packages, no opt-in required, marking a decisive shift from the long-running promotion to a permanent feature of the programme.
You can see the official details on BA’s page for the tier point bonus offer, which sets out dates, cabin-by-cabin amounts and fine print.
What’s changing and when
From 25 November 2025, the tier point bonus stops being a promotion and becomes a permanent part of BA Club. You won’t need to register: the extra tier points will be added automatically to eligible BA-marketed flights and to Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car packages.
If you booked during the earlier promotional window but travel after 25 November 2025, your flights will still receive the bonus. For the exact cabin amounts, dates and any exclusions, check BA’s tier point bonus page.
How many extra points per cabin?
BA has published a cabin table detailing the per-sector uplift. In summary:
- Euro Traveller: 75 extra tier points (each way)
- Club Europe: 175
- World Traveller: 150
- World Traveller Plus: 275
- Club World: 400
- First: 550
Reward bookings and Avios upgrades don’t receive the bonus.
What counts as a qualifying flight or holiday
To earn the extra, you need a British Airways-marketed flight (a BA flight number) in an eligible cabin, Economy is excluded though and you must fly on or after 25 November 2025. Qualifying Holidays are packages booked as Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car under one price.
If you’re comparing Avios vs tier points, remember that Avios are your spendable currency for British Airways Avios flights, while tier points are the status metric inside BA Club. The qualifying definitions and exclusions are laid out in BA’s terms.
Faster routes to Bronze, Silver and Gold
Making the bonus permanent reshapes your path to Bronze, Silver and Gold tier status. With extra tier points added per sector, a couple of European weekend trips can move the needle on your tier point thresholds, while long-haul returns in premium cabins become even more effective.
If your goal is to retain Silver in 2026 or requalify efficiently, these fixed boosts make planning simpler and more repeatable. Going for Gold Guest List? It’s an invitation-only level above Gold for members who earn very high Tier Points. With the new per-flight boosts, premium cabins on multi-sector trips will get you there faster.
How to plan your earning with Reward Flight Finder (RFF)
If your goal is status, sketch the trips you’ll realistically take and then layer in the new per-flight tier point boosts.
Use the RFF Tier point calculator to see how each sector contributes. For example, two long-haul returns in Club World add a substantial uplift, while a couple of European returns in Club Europe can quickly close gaps.
RFF can’t see your tier point balance, but we can help you plan availability—pairing status-friendly cash trips with reward seats for positioning or side journeys. Set alerts to track BA reward seat openings for the dates wanted.
Practical strategies and common questions
Think of tier points as the fuel for BA Club status, and Avios as the currency you’ll spend on flights and upgrades—both matter in a well-planned travel year.
How to earn tier points (fast)
Pick cabins with stronger uplifts and consider itineraries with sensible extra sectors (time and cost permitting). Premium cabins on multi-sector trips are often the backbone of a solid year’s earnings.
BA tier points rules
The bonus is on top of standard earning and applies to BA-marketed flights in eligible cabins. It doesn’t apply to Reward Flights, standard Economy or Avios upgrades. Always check BA’s terms for your ticket.
Tier points per pound?
Tier points are awarded per flight and cabin, not per £ spent. Spend can influence Avios earning, but tier points follow the charts and the new uplift.
Upgrading and tier points
Moving to a higher cabin can change standard tier points, but some scenarios (e.g. Avios upgrades) do not receive the extra uplift. Check your fare rules and BA’s offer terms before you commit.
How many extra points in each cabin?
Short-haul Euro Traveller and Club Europe, and long-haul World Traveller, World Traveller Plus, Club World and First each have a fixed per-sector bonus. Refer to BA’s table for exact amounts on your route.
Lounge access and route choice?
As you climb from Bronze to Silver and Gold, you unlock perks such as lounge access, extra baggage and priority services. If lounge access is a priority, aim for Silver in your plan; it typically grants lounge entry on the day of travel. Choosing routes then becomes part science (know the charts and uplifts) and part art (seasonality, pricing sweet spots, and BA-marketed partner operations).
What to do next
- Map your 2026 trips against a clear status target—Bronze, Silver, Gold or beyond.
- Use the RFF tier point calculator and apply the new per-flight uplift by cabin to check feasibility.
- Where it fits, package trips as Flight + Hotel or Flight + Car to earn the holiday uplift.
- Mix cash sectors (for status) with Avios redemptions; set RFF alerts to catch BA reward seats as they appear.
If you hold status elsewhere, keep an eye out for status match opportunities or time-limited promos.
