British Airways has just surprised us all once again, announcing that the next round of Avios-Only flights will be London - Dubai during the October half-term 2024, with 214 return reward seats available to book from just 60,000 Avios, plus £100 in taxes and fees. The flight is available to book now on BA.com, in the same way you would make any Avios reward seat booking

In keeping with the Avios-Only flights we've come to know and love, all seats across three cabins of the BA105 from London Heathrow to Dubai on 26 October 2024 will be available for Avios collectors to book with their points. The BA108 aircraft will return a week later on 2 November 2024 with 256 seats available across four cabins, including ever popular Business and First Class for those seeking a trip swathed in luxury.

British Airways

The airline launched Avios-Only flights earlier this year, making 100% of the seats on board specific flights exclusively available to British Airways Club Members as reward seat bookings. However, this is the very first time that British Airways has offered a long-haul Avios-Only flight - in the past they’ve focussed on short-haul European destinations such as Corfu, Geneva, Ibiza and Nice.

British Airways Chairperson and CEO Sean Doyle dropped hints about this yesterday during a media event at London Heathrow Airport (LHR). He said:

"[We’re] working hard to make sure you can earn and spend Avios in many more ways than you used to

be able to do. We’re going to launch a long-haul Avios-only flight. That will be to Dubai (...)

in October 2024. That’s going to be very popular with families. [This is] just another example of the way

Amazingly, seats on Avios-Only flights are sold as normal reward seats, which means that if you have one of the British Airways American Express Credit Cards you will also have the ability to use any valid Companion Vouchers you might have when you book your seats, meaning you can get a second seat for just the taxes and charges, or one seat for 50% of the standard Avios fare.
